A potted history!

Having grown our playwriting festival from 2010's 'The Play's The Thing' at a pub in Southend, then gravitating to The Dixon Studio at The Palace Theatre (Westcliff) for 4 years where the festival was variously known as The Southend Playwriting Festival and latterly Write Angles, we are now moving the Festival online for 2017 and will be able to broadcast winning entries here, from our website, around the world reaching a far wider audience than ever before!

Being able to stage new work, by new writers, is always rewarding - for both actors and playwrights - being able to move to an 'online stage' where English speaking people around the world can enjoy new theatre is a very exciting prospect and we hope you'll enjoy listening to the winning entries as much as we will enjoy recording their work.
